Dear Dr Blake
It is with immense pride and joy that NACAC wishes to extend our most profound congratulations through you to Jamaica’s and the Caribbean’s first female Olympic gold medallist, Deon Hemmings McCatty, who will, tomorrow, 19 October, receive Jamaica’s Order of Distinction in the rank of Commander (CD). This deserving honour comes after she was the recipient of the National Award of Honour, Officer Class (OD) some years ago.
As Jamaica hosts it annual Honours and Awards Ceremony, we are assured that Deon Hemmings McCatty’s achievement in the 400mH at the Centennial Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, in 1996, will serve as a stunning reminder of the trail that she has followed and also that which she set for our sport of athletics, not only in Jamaica and the Caribbean, but across the entire NACAC Area.
We are proud of Deon Hemmings McCatty as she receives her latest honour and would wish you to convey this to her and her family. This is a most fitting accolade for an outstanding woman, an example for all of our current athletes, and for those from generations as yet unborn.
NACAC remains excited by the continued performances of Jamaican athletes and the impact that they have had on our Area.
Do enjoy the celebration, knowing especially, of our continued support for all that the JAAA has been doing to keep athletes as the world’s leading sport for individuals.

Es con inmenso orgullo y alegría que NACAC desea extender nuestras más profundas felicitaciones a través de usted a la primera mujer medallista de oro olímpica de Jamaica y el Caribe, Deon Hemmings McCatty, quien, mañana, 19 de octubre, recibirá la Orden de Distinción de Jamaica en el rango de Comandante (CD). Este merecido honor llega después de que ella recibió el Premio Nacional de Honor, Clase de Oficial (OD) hace algunos años.
Como Jamaica organiza su Ceremonia anual de Honores y Premios, estamos seguros de que el logro de Deon Hemmings McCatty en 400mH en los Juegos Olímpicos del Centenario en Atlanta, Georgia, EE. UU., En 1996, servirá como un recordatorio sorprendente del camino que ha seguido y también lo que puso para nuestro deporte de atletismo, no solo en Jamaica y el Caribe, sino en toda el Área NACAC.
Estamos orgullosos de Deon Hemmings McCatty ya que recibe su último honor y deseamos que se lo transmita a ella y a su familia. Este es un elogio más apropiado para una mujer sobresaliente, un ejemplo para todos nuestros atletas actuales y para aquellos de generaciones que aún no han nacido.
NACAC sigue entusiasmado por las actuaciones continuas de los atletas jamaicanos y el impacto que han tenido en nuestra Área.
Disfrute de la celebración, sabiendo especialmente, de nuestro continuo apoyo a todo lo que la JAAA ha estado haciendo para mantener a los atletas como el deporte líder mundial para las personas.
