Commonwealth Games Fedrick Dacres won both the discus and shot put at Saturday’s (13 May) JAAA All Comers Meet. The event, second in a series, is to help to prepare Jamaican athletes for June’s National Championships.
Dacres threw 66.14m to take the discus over his training partner Traves Smikles, 61.58, then added the shot put with 18.40m.
Rasheed Dwyer, 10.33s beat Tyquendo Tracey, 10.36s and Kenroy Anderson, 10.41s in the men’s 100m dash. Nesta Carter, who was sixth in heat 5, ended 10th overall with 10.61s.
Jevaughn Minzie was 17th in 10.81 and Mario Forsythe finished 19th in 10.90s.
Sherone Simpson loses 100m to training partner Sashalee Forbes at JAAA All Comers Meet
Sashalee Forbes, 11.64s beat Sherone Simpson, 11.68s in the women’s 100m. Shimayra Williams, 11.70 and Yanique Thompson, 12.04 finished 3rd and 4th respectively.
Demish Gaye, who was second behind Javon Francis in the first meet, won the men’s 200m in 21.25s. Rusheen McDonald with 21.57, Jamari Rose, 21.59, Jaheel Hyde, 21.72 and Antonio Watson, 21.88 were the next best finishers.
Stephenie-Ann McPherson won the women’s 200m in 23.53 (-2.3m/s wind) over Anastasia Le-Roy, 24.02, Tiffany James, 24.23, Simpson, 24.53, Natasha Morrison, 24.57 and Gayon Evans, 24.89.
The men’s 400m went to Peter Mathews in 46.70. Dear Murray was second in 46.86 while Javere Bell ran 48.09 for sixth.
Junelle Bromfield, 53.42 topped the women’s one-lap event ahead of Shaquena Foote, 53.80 and Simoya Campbell, 54.26s.
Ronda Whyte produced 56.09s, the best time in the women’s 400m hurdles, to beat Russell Clayton, 56.92, Nikita Tracey, 57.75, Danielle Dowie, 58.18 and Ristananna Tracey, 58.88.
In the junior section, Kimone Shaw, running unattached, won the 100m dash in 12.16 ahead of Tashauna Gordon of Bog Walk High, 13.09 (-2.7m/s wind).
Maurice Thompson of Papine took the boys’ 100m in 10.92 while Rajay Morris of Clarendon College won the 200m in 21.93
