He chose the most appropriate time and place to make the announcement.

President of the JAAA, Garth Gayle, on Saturday 6 November 2022, chose the NACAC Special Congress to announce to the membership that his organization has received official word from the minister of sport, Hon. Grange, that the government of Jamaica has given its support to the hosting of the 49th Annual Carifta Games over the Easter Weekend in 2022.

The announcement was met with applause by the NACAC members in attendance at yesterday’s Congress.

Jamaica has won more medals at the Carifta Games than any other member federation and the government and people are hopeful that the 49th edition would be no different. Other member federations may have other ideas but Jamaica remains unperturbed.

Minister Grange is of the view that hosting the Carifta Games would be an ideal fit with the government’s plans for a year-long celebration of the country’s Diamond Jubilee as an Independent nation.
