Julian Forte beat Yohan Blake in the men’s 100m at Saturday’s (29 Aug) Velocity Fest 5 at the National Stadium.

In heat 3 of the men’s 100m, ran into an unfavourable 1.3m/s wind, the photo-finish camera separated Forte and Blake. Both crossed the finish line in 10.20 with Forte getting the edge.

Nigel Ellis finished third in 10.45. Sachin Dennis, the winner of heat 2, took fourth overall with 10.50.

Doha 2019 medallists Gayle, Ricketts and Dacres were winners on the day:
World long jump champion Tajay Gayle topped his pet event with a leap of 8.04m. He was way off his 8.23m he recorded to win at this same meet on 11 Jul.

Domon Williams leapt 7.67m for second and Joseph Ramie, 7.17m third. Williams won the men’s triple jump with 15.99m.

Fedrick Dacres, the Doha 2019 silver medallist, threw 61.44 to take the men’s discus. Chad Wright, who was also in Doha, threw 59.78 for second place.

Shanieka Ricketts, also a Doha 2019 silver medal winner, hop, skip and jump 14.37m to take the women’s triple jump. Sandisha Antoine, the only other competitor, finished with the best mark of 13.29.

Samantha Hall was the lone discus thrower, and her best mark was 51.81m.
