Global Calendar Unit
Following previous Council decisions to approve two National Championship windows per year (see M 46/19), in order to better coordinate the global calendar, the Executive Board has approved the establishment of a Global Calendar Unit.
The Unit which is being chaired by the CEO has been established to lead, manage and coordinate all parts of the global athletics calendar from World to National Championships and all between.
The Unit will liaise with Area Associations, Member Federations, meet organisers and all other relevant bodies to ensure long term date harmonisation and a coordinated approach is taken far the sport’s major fixtures.
The Unit aims to have a 3-4 year long-term constantly updated global calendar available on the World Athletics website listing all WA and Area licenced / permitted competitions (T&F & Road) with links to LOC websites, along with disciplines and categories linked to World Rankings.
